The Fair Credit Reporting Act and USIncomeVerify

The Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) is a federal law regulating the collection, dissemination, and use of consumer information, including consumer credit information. It was originally passed in 1970, and it is enforced by the US Federal Trade Commission.

USIncomeVerify complies with the FCRA through agreements with employers that allow us to provide information about an employee's income and employment history to various organizations.

What does the FCRA means to you as a Verifier?

We are subject to certain requirements concerning how we allow you to access information from our system. When you use the USIncomeVerify website to verify a person's employment and/or income, you are also subject to certain requirements determined by the text of the FCRA.

We are required to identify all users of our services. You will be asked to validate your identity when you log in, and your identity will be documented on any verification you create.

During the verification process, you must give a reason for needing a person's employment or income information. This reason will be documented on any verification you create.

If you would like more information about your responsibilities under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, please visit the Federal Trade Commission website.
